‘Pay special attention to Marine PSs’

Published on:

Pay special attention to the functioning of the Marine police stations in the districts and try to strengthen it with additional manpower and infrastructure,” directed DGP BK Sharma on Wednesday reviewing coastal security with the SPs of seven coastal police districts through videoconferencing at the State police Headquarters here.

He also directed the SPs to ask the concerned Marine police stations IICs to carry out extensive patrolling in the sea in their jurisdiction.

The meeting assumes significance as there would be a meeting on “National Committee on Strengthening Maritime and Coastal

Security Threat from the Sea” on Thursday in which Cabinet Secretary of India would review the marine security activities through video conference.

Sharma reviewed extensively the performance of 18 Marine police stations of the State.  These police stations are not only dealing with coastal security issues but are also looking after the crime and law and order issues of the adjoining localities. These police stations are also registering cases in their jurisdiction.

The DGP also asked the SPs to submit a detailed proposal to IGP (Modernisation) relating to construction of office building, staff quarters and other infrastructural development.
