The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) is considering engaging ‘Palia’ (temporary) servitors to perform rituals of the deities as many as 450 regular servitors have tested positive for Covid-19 so far.As most of the infected priests are in home isolation, there is a shortage of servitors to perform rituals. However, there is no disruption in rituals so far, said a servitor, who is a member of the temple managing committee. An SJTA official said if more servitors test positive in coming days, it would be matter of greater concern for administration.
