‘Odisha facing terror threat via sea route’

Published on:

Director General of National Investigation Agency (NIA) Yogesh Chander Modi on Thursday said Odisha has been facing possible terror threats through sea route.

The Central Intelligence department has also provided inputs in this regard.

Speaking at a one-day training programme for police officers on investigation of cases relating to terrorism at the Police Bhawan here, the NIA DG said, “Terrorism can be curbed if the investigating agency or team curbs terror funding.”

The purpose of the training was to replicate the NIA’s method of investigation and help the Odisha police probe terror-related cases in a better way, he added. More than 80 officers attended the training programme, jointly organised by the Odisha police and the NIA. It may be noted that in Odisha, Abdur Rehman of Cuttack and some other persons from Rourkela have, meanwhile, been arrested for allegedly having links with terrorist outfits.
