The BJP on Tuesday alleged that migrant workers are going to other States in search of work as the Odisha Government has failed to provide works to them under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
“The Union Government has been allocating more funds to Odisha to undertake MGNRGA works. But the State Government has failed in managing the funds.
As a result, migrant workers are going to other States for earning a living,” alleged BJP State general secretary Golak Mohapatra.
He alleged that the MGNREGA has gone out of its way due to bonhomie among BDOs, contractors and BJD leaders. Money is being withdrawn in the names of dead persons, Government officials, persons staying outside Odisha and old-age pensioners, he alleged.
Mohapatra said the BJP would stage protests at all block offices across the State if the irregularities are not investigated and action not taken against the errant soon.
