‘No funds, schemes only meant to woo voters’

Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik on Wednesday alleged that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are always hoodwinking people by announcing schemes after schemes without allocating funds.

“When there is shortage of funds for the schemes to fulfill minimum needs of the people, both the State and the Central Governments are announcing schemes after schemes to woo voters ahead of elections,” alleged Patnaik.

He slammed the State Government for incurring about Rs 92,000 crores, which is around 21 per cent of the Gross State Domestic product (GSDP). “The loan burden is a clear reflection of mismanagement and incapability of the State Government,” alleged Patnaik.

He said the total debt burden of the country has reached approximately 82 lakh crore. The Modi Government has borrowed more than Rs 27 lakh crore during the last four-and-a-half years. The Rafale scam has shown the Modi’ Government’s real face.

He too slammed the Union Government for not creating least 2 crore jobs every year as promised by the BJP in its election manifesto. He alleged that both the Governments are collecting money from various sources and borrowing to woo the voters.
