Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who, among others, shared the dais with Prime Minister Narendar Modi at the projects inaugural ceremony at the IIT Bhubaneswar campus on Monday, urged the Prime Minister to accord ‘first freedom struggle’ status to the Paika Bidroh, which completed 200th year this year.
“We are celebrating the 200th year of the Paik Bidroh spearheaded by Buxi Jagabandhu. I would like to request the Union Government to confer the First Freedom Movement to the Paika rebellion so that it will be a real tribute to the great freedom fighter Buxi Jagabandhu,” said the Chief Minister.
He also assured that his Government would provide all support to the proposed projects, for which the Prime Minister laid foundation-stones on the occasion.
