Puri Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb on Saturday wrote a letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik urging him to move the Supreme Court immediately for a reconsideration of its Thursday order for cancellation of this year’s Rath Yatra.
Deb stated that the annual festival in Puri should be conducted by following the Covid-19 guidelines.
Deb had on Friday lamented that the State Government did not plead in the apex court that he Rath Yatra could be held without presence of devotees. Instead, the Government pointed out that lakhs of people would congregate at the festival amid the Covid-19 spread.
