The BJD Keonjhar district unit on Saturday alleged that the BJP-led NDA Government has stopped around seven to eight from 33 Central schemes.
Addressing a Press meet here, BJD leaders, including Minister Badri Narayan Patra, observed that the minerals-rich district has been deprived of major schemes like BRGF, IAP and ACA.
The NDA Government also caused severe loss to the State Government by raising share of the State in Central schemes.
The Central Government has completely neglected PSUs like SAIL and OMDC. This has affected the revenue generation in Keonjhar. Even as the head office of OMDC in Calcutta is being demanded to be shifted to Keonjhar, the Centre doesn’t pay any heed, they said.
Even as SAIL has two high production mines at Balani and Kiribur, the Centre has failed to set up captive steel plants in Keonjhar. The Central Government also did not cooperate in the proposed takeover of Kalinga iron works (set up by former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik) to SAIL, the BJD members alleged.
PM Modi inaugurated double-laning of two railway lines (Naranpur-Basantpur, Chilikidhara-Sagadpata), but Keonjhar has been neglected in railways even though the district has contributed thousands of crores of rupees to the Central Government in mineral transportation.
The Central Government also failed to complete construction of two Kendriya Vidyalayas at Champua and Anandapur, they said, adding that the Central Government has stopped providing funds to the only ESI hospital at Joda.
They demanded that the existing Rupsa Bangripossi railway link be extended up to Keonjhar.
They also demanded stoppage for all Superfast and Express trains in the district.
