‘Modi Govt attacking democratic institutions’

Published on:

Different non-BJP parties of Odisha on Monday submitted a memorandum to President Droupadi Murmu alleging continuous onslaught on democracy and democratic institutions by the Narendra Modi Government.

Leaders of political parties like Congress, CPI, Samajwadi Party, AAP and others said the Constitution which is the only source of Parliamentary democracy is attacked by the BJP Government and its leaders for their own vested interests. The fundamental rights which are the cornerstone of democracy are being curtailed.

The opposition leaders are vilified, coerced by using Central institutions like ED, CBI and Income Tax. For no reason, the opposition leaders are being put in jails, they alleged.

Those leaders who could not sustain the threats joined the BJP, following which the charges against them are being suspended. Rahul Gandhi who raised the relationship between Modi and Gautam Adani, was expelled from the Lok Sabha membership within 24 hours of the pronouncement of judgement in a defamation case, they said.
