The Freethought Party of India (FPI) demanded that the minimum age for marriage should be 18 years for both sexes. The minimum age for marriage that has been fixed at the age of 21 for male adults should be removed and the same should be brought down to 18, urged the FPI.
The date of birth of each citizen of India must be available in web for easy access. This is required because now caste-minded parents belonging to higher caste groups and enjoying better economic status are harassing their daughters hiding the basic documents such as School Living Certificate or High School Certificate, Birth Certificate, Aadhaar, etc,, if they are averse to their love marriage, said FPI general secretary B Ramchandra CST Voltaire, adding that as soon as a child is born, his/her date of birth (DoB) be brought to the public notice by the staffs or officers working as per the provisions provided under Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969. The name of the child has to be collected from the concerned parents soon after the birth of the child.
If this is done, love marriage of any young girl of India would never be affected by any caste-creed-status minded parents. This is absolutely necessary to make India caste-free and creed-free, he said.
