‘Maharathy’s aides misled Pipili probe’

Published on:

The Congress on Sunday alleged that two aides pof the local MLA Pradeep Maharathy mislead the Crime Branch investigation in Pipili gang-rape and demanded a reinvestigation by a sitting judge.

“The Crime Branch had included Pipili block Vice-Chairman Yuddhisthir Swaim and Samiti member and ATMA Chairman Dharanidhar Sahoo in its investigation. However, the two changed their views in the court, impacted the investigation process and helped culprits move free. They were BJD leaders and Minister Pradeep Maharathy’s close friends,” alleged alleged PCC Media cell chief Satyaprakash Nayak.

Nayak said suspension and dismissal of the Pipili police station IIC was subsequently rejected by the court as the Government had taken these decisions in a hurry to mislead the investigation. He further alleged that the Government had neglected in employing a lawyer to fight the case and give justice to the victim’s family.

He demanded that the case be reinvestigated under the direct guidance of a sitting judge.

Among others, PCC spokesperson Ashok Samal, Prashant Satpathy, Himanshu Lenka, Rajani Mohanty, Om Prakash Sahu and Deepak Mohapatra were present.
