Rushikulya Rayat Mahasabha chief advisor and president of Lokshakti Abhiyan, Prafulla Samantara reiterated the demand that the State Government under CM Naveen  Patnaik should bring a  lagislation in the Assembly under footnotes of Punjab and Rajsthan, ensuring that there cannot be sale of paddy bellow the minimum Support price (MSP) in private market.

And the State Government should follow the Kerala Government and the Chhattisgarh Government to give at least Rs 700 extra per one quintal of paddy to prove its sincerity in demanding welfare of farmers before the Central Government, he demanded. Notably, the Odisha Government has demanded before the Modi Government to implement the Swaminathan Committee's recommendations.

When the BJD is claiming that the Centre is not listening to the demands of the farmars, at the same time the Odisha Government should come forward to have a law to protect the sharecroppers to counter the contract farming by the corporates, told Samantara and also called for cancellation of Cabinet decision on contract farming and ammendment of APMC. "The BJD should oppose the centralisation by the Modi Government to foil the federal structure of our nation. The three anti farmers laws are against State's jurisdiction in agriculture," he told.
