The Freethought Party of India (FPI) in association with social reform organisation  “AMOFOI” celebrated the 131st Birthday of Dr BR Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Constitution here. FPI vice-president Harish Chandra Kar chaired the meeting.

While welcoming chief guest Prof Dhaneswar Sahoo and others, FPI general secretary B Ramchandra CST Voltaire made it clear that Ambedkar’s objective of “Annihilation of Caste in India” would remain a dream unless we come forward to stand squarely by the teenage lovers whose minds are not polluted by the prejudices of caste and religion.

But it is a matter of deep concern that teenage lovers are being harassed and often being killed by caste-minded parents and they are very often being targeted by the police under different provisions of the POCSO Act, he said.

Prof Dhaneswar Sahoo in his speech threw light on the greatness of  Dr Ambedkar and while doing so he said that there should be social democracy for all people in India.

Once social democracy is practiced in schools, colleges and universities of India there would be a greater degree of inter-mixing and this inter-mixing could hit hard structure of caste system, observed Prof Sahoo. Marriage of two pairs of lovers was celebrated.
