‘Let goods trains run for line’s safety’

The East Coast Railway (ECoR) on Saturday urged people not to hinder trial runs of goods trains on the Haridaspur-Paradip railway line as movement of goods trains on new lines settle safety aspects required for running of passenger trains.

“The much-awaited Haridaspur-Paradeep railway line work is almost complete. Trial runs of goods trains started on July 31. And these trial runs of goods trains are necessary for the line to settle for safe train running,” said an ECoR release.

It said the ECoR appreciated the aspirations of the people for passenger train services on the new line.

It added many safety works and passenger facilities need to be done for running of a passenger train. Obstructing these goods train trial runs, as happened on Friday, would only delay the whole process of making this line fit for passenger trains, the ECoR contended.
