‘Jatayu’ to suck garbage from city roads

To make Bhubaneswar a bin-free city, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has added ‘Jatayu’, an additional scientific tool, for sanitation activity on roads.

BMC Mayor Sulochana Das on Friday in the presence of Deputy Mayor Manjulata Kanhar and Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange inaugurated the Jatayu Cleaning Machine at Janpath near the Census Office. She also launched the equipment at the District Centre in Chandrasekharpur.

With 1.5-tonne capacity and 9-diameter suction pipe, Jatayu can suck garbage and hard materials from roadside.

While the Jagruti will deploy the machine for cleaning of garbage from main roads of the city, another agency, Pratyush, will clean internal roads of the city.
