‘It’s in Bijay’s DNA to form groups in a party’

Published on:

The BJP on Friday hit out at Bijay Mohapatra saying that “it is in the DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) of Bijay Mohapatra” to form factions in whatever party he has been.

Mohapatra was trying for a group of his own in the BJP but failed in his bid, said BJP State vice-president Sameer Mohanty in his reaction to Mohapatra’s resignation from the party.

Mohanty told reporters that Mohapatra and Dilip Ray, who also quit the BJP, had been keeping themselves aloof from party activities for quite a long time. He alleged that Dilip Ray left the BJP for “personal interest” and not for the good of people of Rourkela. “The Biramitrapur-Brahmani-Rajamunda NH project, on which the second Brahmani bridge comes, has been approved by the Narendra Modi Government. Works have started for making the bridge six-laning. The State Government has delayed giving land and forest permission. It is disappointing that Ray is blaming the Centre knowing all these,” said Mohanty. He said the IGH conversion to a super-speciality hospital has been delayed as the State Government has not agreed to a share of 40 per cent funds.

Meanwhile, on behalf of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Minister Pratap Jena said that though all willing people are welcome to the BJD, party supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would take a final on Mohapatra and Ray if the two leaders want to the BJD.
