BJD Rajya Sabha member and tribal leader Niranjan Bishi has demanded immediate allotment of houses which were damaged in cyclone Fani in 2019 in Odisha.
Raising the matter in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, Bishi pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the general elections had promised to allocate five lakh special PMAY houses to the families affected by cyclone Fani which badly hit Odisha in 2019, affecting around1.84 lakh families.
The State Government sought intervention from the Center to consider the families under special PMAY and urged for waiver of conditions for including them in waiting list under PMAY (G). The Chief Minister of Odisha has also raised the issue earlier and urged the Center to take necessary steps, he said.
“I request PM Modi to take steps in this regard so that the 1.84 lakh Fani affected families get benefitted under PMAY (G),” Bisi said, participating in a debate in the Upper House.
