‘Govt responsible for Puri violence’

Published on:

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Friday said the violence and vandalism that occurred in Puri on October 3 was an outcome of the sheer negligence of the State Government towards devotees and sevayats.

It alleged that a stained episode was created in the history of Shreemandir due to administrative mismanagement.

Various kinds of disturbances have been marked in Shreemandir management since the last Nabakalebar. Though huge amounts of fund spent, the Government didn’t make public the judicial committee report on the Brarhma Bibhrat.

While ‘Pitrupaksha’ is on, ‘Pindadana’ on the ‘Baishi Pahacha’ was disrupted. Similarly, devotees’ movement and sevayats’ entry in the Shreemandir was disturbed. Facing all these, devotees and servitors became unhappy. The State Government’s lack of vision and mismanagement are only to be blamed, said VHP leaders at a Press conference here.

They said the VHP wants that the administration adopt a system that would not create any displeasure in lovers of the Lord Jagannath. They also suggested that the Government should take suggestion from the Gajapati Maharaja and the Shankaracharya.

VHP vice-presidents Dr Malay Kumar Mohanty and Dr Pramod Kumar Acharya, organisation minister Anandji Pandey, secretary Prashan Panda, spokesperson Pramod Das and Hindu Jagaran Samukhya president Ajit Patnaik were present.
