‘Govt failed to curb Manipur violence’

Published on:

While the sectarian strife in Manipur continued unabated, the Manipur and Central Governments have failed to curb it, alleged the United Christian Forum at a Press meet here on Sunday.

The communal violence which started from May 3 has claimed more than 181 lives and more than 310 persons have been injured as per media reports. Over 60,000 people have been displaced and more than 400 houses have been damaged. Many Adivasi women have been raped and physically tortured, alleged the forum.

The forum has decided to submit a memorandum to the President of India through the district administration for the Constitutional rights of the minority Christian community. The forum would take out a rally from Court Square to the district Collectorate and submit a memorandum.
