The members of the District Private Bus Operators Association, District Chamber of Commerce and Industries, District Taxi, Truck Association, besides denizens of Subarnapur, have submitted a memorandum to district Collector Monisha Banarjee to exempt vehicles of Subarnapur district from paying tax at Bhainsapali tollgate, which is just 5 km away from Sonepur area.
Toll tax from vehicles at Bhainsaplali tollgate in Balangir-Sonepur road NH-57 in Balangir district has been collected since April 1. In a memorandum submitted to the district Collector on Friday, they pointed out that Subarnapur is a part of KBK district. “The people of our district are purely depending upon the Bhim Bhoi Medical College, Balangir for medical facilities and upon the Railway Station for transport facilities. It is a punishment for the residents of Subarnapur as well as a financial burden on all types of transport operators during the Covid – 19 pandemic to impose toll tax on them,” the memorandum said.
Moreover, previously, in neighbouring Bargarh district, vehicles registered in the district are exempted from toll tax there, they said.
