During the inauguration of the Veer Surendra Sai Airport here on Saturday, local MLA Naba Kishore Das submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to ensure supply of adequate raw materials to industries in the district. Among other points, the memorandum mentioned that many industries are now closed and many others don’t operate to full capacity due to shortage of raw materials.
In an example, it said the Vedanta Aluminium Company has become sick due to the shortage of 'alumina' and 'bauxite'. Other demands included opening of an AIIMS, a separate rail division at Jharsuguda, establishment of an agriculture-based food project in the city and opening a Skill Development Centre in the district. The memorandum was submitted to the Prime minister by MLA on the dais itself.
