Education is the key to all development, said Sri Lankan High Commissioner to India Austin Fernando during a visit to the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) and the KIIT here on Saturday.
Addressing KISS students, he said, "Tribal people are living in a state of deprivation. Only education can eradicate deprivation. So, the tribal students should educate themselves to come out of poverty."
Appreciating the work of KIIT & KISS founder Dr Achyuta Samanta, Fernando said, "Through KISS, he has proved that one man can also make a difference. He has proved it through KISS and set example for others in the globe." Students should learn from Dr Samanta to give something back to their families, community, society, State and country. "You should not search for your role model anywhere because your role model is in front of you. He is none other than Dr Samanta," he told the students.
