The BJP on Thursday demanded that the State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) disqualify Sorada BJD MLA Purna Chandra Swain for his alleged three fake affidavits submitted during the elections in 2009, 2014 and 2019. A delegation of the party met the CEO and submitted a memorandum to him in this regard.
BJP leaders alleged that this case revealed how BJD leaders are making false claims in affidavits. Swain claimed that he has passed Class-X through his affidavit in 2009 while in the 2014 and 2019 affidavits he stated that he has passed Class-IX. Why both the State Government and the CEO are silent on this despite the MLA has been resorting to falsehood for so long, the BJP questioned. Only when media reported that Swain was appearing for the Class-X examination recently that the issue came to the fore, stated BJP leader Lekhasri Samantsinghar.
