The State Government has directed the Collectors of three worst-cyclone-hit districts, Gajapati, Ganjam and Rayagada, to disburse ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh to the next of kin (NOK) of the deceased persons within three days.
In a letter on Tuesday, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi asked the Collectors to disburse the ex-gratia within the deadline.
Besides, the Revenue Inspectors and the Tehsildars were asked to expedite the process of identifying the families of the deceased.
The district officials were directed to inquire into all cases of alleged deaths and ensure payment of the compensation amount to the deceased persons NOK after following due procedure.
Earlier, the State Government had announced to provide the ex-gratia within seven days. But after reviewing the widespread destruction caused by Cyclone Titli, the Government has decided to provide the compensation within three days.
