The International Day for Older Persons was observed here on Tuesday. A meeting was organised at the Balangir Sadar block office being attended by senior citizens besides Government official and others.
On the occasion, as many as 10 trees were planted by senior citizens in the block office premises. Senior citizens were imparted yoga training. Besides, Samprada, a local folk music and dance, was performed.
Later, a meeting was held wherein Balangir block Chairman Golap Bag, BDO Debasis Rout, senior citizens Srikara Mishra and Bikramananda Bohidar, ABDO Ramdutta Bhoi and others urged everyone to respect elders and learn from their experiences to lead a trouble-free life and build a better society.
