‘Covid situation completely under control’

Reviewing the Covid-19 response in State, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, on Tuesday said the situation is completely under control. The State Government has taken all possible steps to curb the pandemic without harming the normal life and livelihoods of the people.

‘As the number of cases are dropping with low hospitalisation across the country, we need to be more prepared and alert,” Patnaik said.

He asked the Chief Secretary to air televised statements appealing to people not to be afraid of the high number of patients.

Directing the officials to strengthen the immunisation programme in the State, he asked to intensify vaccination of vulnerable people, frontline workers like medical, police and administrative employees.

The CM said that as mediapersons are now treated as frontline workers, they need to be immunised by booster doses on a priority basis.

He also asked officials to give maximum stress on micro containment and have regular supervision of home quarantine patients.

Chief Secretary Suresh Mohapatra said that as per the CM's directive, all Covid hospitals have been made operational and medicines and other essentials have been provided. "Every effort has been made to ensure that people's livelihoods are not affected," he said.

Additional Chief Administrative Secretary (Health) RK Sharma said there are 11,291 beds for Covid patients in the State.
