The BJP on Tuesday demanded that the State Government constitute a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the two gang-rape incidents of Biramitrapur and Malkangiri and send the culprits to jail at the earliest.
“A tribal woman was gang-raped in a police canteen in Malkangir and later she died. In Biramitrapur, a 13-year-old tribal girl was sexually assaulted for many days. It is very disappointing that police personnel, who ought to have protected them, are involved in both the incidents. Culprits have also not been booked under the SC and ST Atrocities Act,” said BJP State general secretary Prithviraj Harichandan.
He said the BJP would not sit silent until accused in both the cases have not been sent to jail.
