The Mahtab Academy celebrated the 120th Dr Harekrushna Mahtab Jayanti here on Thursday under the chairmanship of its chairman Dr Aryakumar Jnanendra.
Former Utkal University of Culture Vice-Chancellor Dr Bimalendu Mohanty attending as chief guest said Mahtab, a former Chief Minister, is considered as one of the makers of modern Odisha, but yet he has not been conferred with the Bharat Ratna. He urged the youths of the State to demand before the Central Government to confer the country's highest civilian honour to him.
Journalist Basanta Das said Mahtab’s contribution towards Odisha’s freedom struggle, literature and culture is incomparable and he fought for the development of Odisha till his last breath.
Mahabodhi Society trustee Sourendra Kumar Mahapatra said, “Bhubaneswar, the place of which we feel proud today is an example of Mahtab’s vision”.
