‘Cheated’ ex-Army jawan rattles sword

Published on:

A former Army jawan on Friday went berserk in Banki in Cuttack by moving around brandishing a sword and a hammer. He also ransacked an ATM kiosk.

Later, the jawan, identified as Saroj Das of Harirajpur village under the Banki police station, went to the Kacheri ground and tried to terrorise people by rattling his sword in the air. Das even tried to attack the policemen who rushed to the spot to nab him.

Later, he told the cops how two fraudsters duped him of his life savings.

It was ascertained that that he had a written complaint addressed to the Banki police station IIC.

As per his compliant, two persons cheated him of his life savings promising him help in buying a Hyva truck.

They took Rs 6 lakh from him and gave him a secondhand truck instead of a new one along with a court paper where one of the fraudsters promised he would return the rest of the money to him with interest.

Now even though the promised period of two years has passed, he is yet to get back his money.

In his complaint, Saroj has sought justice from the police. He has even mentioned that if he fails to get justice from the police, he, as a jawan, knows very well how to teach a lesson to the fraudsters.
