The BJP on Sunday alleged that the BJD Government has not made any progress in the education sector for which Odia students have been deprived of quality education during the last 19 years.

“There are 1.20 crore illiterate people in Odisha now. The State Literacy Mission is headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. However, the mission has not met once in 18 years,” alleged BJP vice-president Sameer Mohanty at a Press meet here.

He lamented saying that only seven per cent of Government schools are now running with one teacher only and 66 per cent schools have less than one teacher per 30 students.

He further alleged that work orders of over Rs 1,200 crore have been issued to BJD-supported contractors under the Mo Gaon Mo Bikash Yojana.

Mohanty too alleged that 790 out 1,385 santioned lecture posts in universities and 1,700 lecture posts in 52 Government colleges are lying vacant.

Among others, former MLA Bhaskar Madhei and Shankar Oram and BJP Krushak Morcha general secretary Surath Biswal were present.
