‘BJD Govt has failed in curbing poverty’

The BJP opposed the State’s food security scheme, saying the State’s BJD Government launched the programme to cover up its failures in curbing poverty. “By launching the scheme, it has proved that 34 lakh poor families have been created during the last 19 year of the BJD Government.

The scheme is meant only to cover up the State Government’s failure in checking poverty,” said BJP vice-president Samir Mohant at a Press meet.

Similarly, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik termed the State’s food security scheme as a political move to woo voters. “Neither did the BJP nor the BJD should take credit for the food security programme as it is the brainchild of the UPA Government.

The State Government is making tall claims about its own food security scheme but it is yet to fix the number of beneficiaries to be covered under the programme. All these moves are part of vote-bank politics,” said the OPCC chief at a programme in Cuttack.
