‘Bijepur record shows Naveen’s popularity’

BJD candidate Rita Sahu’s massive win in the Bijepur Assembly by-poll with a record margin of 97,990 votes has once again proved the increasing popularity of party supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, said party’s State general secretary Bijay Nayak in a statement on Friday.

“It is a rare feat that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has achieved by remaining in power and providing good governance to people for long 19 years. While other political parties across the country are facing ups and downs, the election results in our State have proved that the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD has been accepted by people for transparency and people-centric development programmes,” said Nayak.

He said the BJD is obliged to people of Bijepur Assembly constituency for not getting biased by Opposition parties’ tricks but supporting developmental activities of the Naveen Patnaik Government. They have given a verdict of political wisdom and maturity.

He ridiculed the BJP for making false arguments for defeat of its candidate while failing to get one-third of the votes polled.
