Several senior officials of the State Home Department are violating the appeal of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for transparency and honesty. Does the State Government have information about it or it is deliberately avoiding it, questioned Pradesh Student Congress national coordinator Akhilesh Yadav here on Monday.
For an example, complaints had come up against an IPS officer when he was the Rourkela SP and a judicial inquiry was ordered against him. But he has been given promotion. A State lawyers’ body has protested this. Crores of rupees have been spent on his official residence’s renovation. The officer, who has been given an important charge, has been seen dancing in dance bars, alleged Yadav.
Besides, he has frequently gone on foreign tours. It is also alleged that the officer is privately into gold trading. Do the Odisha Vigilance police and the Enforcement Directorate have an eye on his lavish lifestyle? Who are the persons who are shielding him? Why the Government is silent over it, he questioned.
