A self-styled godman residing at Lumbini Vihar here claims to cure coronavirus by a touch therapy.
However, Artatrana Das alias Baba Artatrana, a native of Jagatsinghpur, landed in trouble for his claim after demands for his arrest were raised from various quarters.
On Friday, members of the Odisha Hetubadi Samaj (Odisha Rationalist Society) led by its president Pratap Kumar Rath and secretary Debendra Sutar met DGP Abhay and made allegations against Das. They said many gullible people go to him. This can also lead to spread of Covid-19. They demanded his immediate arrest.
Eminent writer Pratibha Ray also demanded Das’ arrest. “The fraudster is playing with people’s mind by spreading superstitions during these testing times,” said she.
When asked, Jagatsinghpur Collector SK Mohapatra said police have been asked to take action against Das.
The matter is being taken into serious consideration and action would be taken as per law, said Jagatsinghpur SP Prakash R.
