A self-styled Baba incurred the wrath of locals and was thrashed mercilessly at Radhanathpur village under the Basudevpur police station in the district on Saturday night for attempting to molest a woman.
The ‘Baba’ had assured an issueless couple of the villager for a child with the help of his ‘tantric puja’ a few days back. As per the schedule, he reached the victim couple’s village and carried out the puja in the first phase at their residence. Later, he informed the family that a second puja would be conducted at the village crematorium.
While conducting the ‘puja’ at the crematorium the Baba told the woman’s husband and other family members to stay away from the spot and conducted the tantric rites with the woman alone. But during the puja, he asked the woman to disrobe and tried to molest her.
Hearing the scream of the woman, her family members and villagers rushed to the spot and tied the Baba up to a pole and thrashed him severely.
Later, police rushed to the spot and rescued the molestor, who was admitted to the Basudevpur hospital.
