The Odisha International Centre on Sunday felicitated Cuttack-Sambalpur Income Tax Principal Commissioner Debendra Narayan Kar and Kriyayoga Ashram founder Swami Shankarananda Giri with the “Annadata Samman” here on Sunday.
The centre also honoured 20 other noted persons with the award for their contribution in distribution of free meals during Rath Yatra on the Badadanda in Puri. They were all felicitated at a special programme, ‘Anna Data Sambardhana Samaroha’ graced by former Income Tax Commissioner Sharat Kumar Das and Puri Shankaracharya’s Chief PRO Matruprasad Mishra and Utkal Journalists’ Association president Bibhuti Bhushan Kar.
Swami Shankarananda Giri stated that he along with 500 volunteers will undertake cleaning work on the Badadanda during the next Rath Yatra in Puri.
Former Income Tax Commissioner Das appreciated the centre for distributing meals for nine days during the Rath Yatra. Various organisations had made contributions for distributions meals in Puri.
Among others, centre vice-president Jaya Prakash Mishra, convenor Bhabagrahi Shanti, coordinator Udaya Kumar Shanti and Kumuduni Panda, Indira Mishra, Suman Das, Suchismita Prushti and Jayashree Dhal coordinated the meeting here.
