‘30 per cent school fee waiver report false, parents body

The Sai International School Parents’ Association on Sunday said the news of waiver of 30% fee for private schools is false and urged the Government to resolve the issue by promulgating an Ordinance in line with the Gujarat Government’s move.

“Hearing a PIL, the Orissa High Court formed a committee and directed the committee and the State Government to discuss the issue and reach consensus regarding the quantum of school fees that can be waive for private school students in view of their parents being hit by Covid-19 crisis.

The court set September 14 for the next hearing in the case. However, a parents’ association, which is a party to the PIL, is publicly saying that an MoU has been signed to waive 30 of school fees. But another association, which is also a party, is saying no discussion has been made and no MoU signed. Thus, the news is completely false,” said forum president Naresh Sahu and secretary Neelamadhab Mohanty in a statement. They alleged that the Sai School management authorities, which are a part of the committee, have been exploiting parents, despite a direction of the High Court.

They said the parents’ issue was not discussed in the committee meeting.“The State Government should talk all parents association on the matter. It should promulgate an Ordinance in line with Gujarat Government and direct schools to waive fees in view of parents’ income being hit Covid crisis,” they urged.
