Perils of pedal-operated sanitiser dispenser

Published on:

Sir,

Now, almost all commercial establishments in Bhubaneswar welcome their customers with a hand sanitiser, either pedal-operated or hand-pressed. In some establishments, it is seen that the pedal-operated  sanitiser will have the container fixed to the frame of the machine, which is correct and safe. But in some places, the sanitiser container is not fixed to the frame of the machine and this is really dangerous because it can lead to life risks.

When the sanitiser container is not fixed to the frame, as we press the pedal, there is a possibility that the nozzle of the container moves to a different direction and dispenses the chemical in a wrong direction. If children are standing close to the pedal-operated dispenser, the chemical can even hit their eyes. Though children are not supposed to accompany elders to the shops during the Covid times, there could be some compelling reasons for them to be accompanied by elders. Hence, there is a need to take extra precaution. It is suggested that the commercial establishments ensure that the nozzle of the dispenser does not move towards any wrong direction and cause freak accidents.
