Buy a sleep! Sleep of corruption, sleep of violence, sleep of child sexual abuse. With a strong message, a youth led theatre troupe Kaafila staged a street play ‘Zor Se Bolo’ at 10 no. market here on Monday.

Prior to Children’s Day to be celebrated on November 14, the theatre troupe came up with some strong issues that are faced by children of this country. Directed by Pritam Kumar, the street play of 18 minutes raised the eyebrows of the spectators as they witnessed closely the condition of children in society.

The first act of the play was an interesting one wherein the artists showcased how people can be insensitive and ignorant towards serious issues. In this act an interaction between two people was shown.

One was selling sleep and other was buying it. He denied buying the sleep of corruption and violence, but showed interest to buy the sleep of child abuse. During the play child issues like child sexual abuse, child labour, right to education and malnutrition were raised.

The play was on the issue of child rights calling on people to act on the issues being faced by children and it conveyed that we cant be sleeping but rather act.  “It is not duty of Government alone rather all of us in society have to play a part to make sure to help fight challenges for children. It touched about the issue of child rights violation, sanitation, labour, drug abuse and trafficking,” told the director.

The play was performed by young artists calling slogans that time to change. The play ended with all lighting candle and giving call to give light in lives of children.

Chief UNICEF Madhya Pradesh Michael Juma, Communication Specialist UNICEF Madhya Pradesh Anil Gulati, Mohsin Khan from Ansh Happiness Society and others were present. Michael Juma encouraged the young people and also released the poster of play ‘lo Bhai Bor’ which will be staged on November 20.
