Janani  Express is a safe motherhood intervention under the National Rural Health Mission (NHM).

It is being implemented with the objective of reducing maternal and neonatal mortality by promoting institutional delivery among pregnant women.

In addition to Singrauli, the service has also been launched in Sagar, Damoh, Narsinghpur, Ratlam, Raisen, Jabalpur, Katni, Shahjapur, Bhind, Vidhisha, Agar Malwa, Khargoan, Seoni  Rewa among other districts. From these districts, anyone can call 108 in an emergency from anywhere at any time 24 x 7 and they will be assisted. There are 535 Janani ambulances on road across 40 districs in Madhya Pradesh.

108 Control and Dispatch Centre (CDC) is set-up in Bhopal to handle all the Janani calls.

108 is a Toll-Free number which is accessible from any landline or mobile.

All the Janani ambulances are equipped with GPS technology which enables the CDC to locate the ambulances in shortest possible time.

And the most important fact is that this world class service is absolutely free for the people.
