On this occasion, a lecture by Dr. Pradeep Nandi, Director General, National Center for Human Settlements and Environment was organized on the topic 'Water Resources of Bhopal - Use and Management'. Pradeep Nandi said that there was a time when the water of Bade Talab was so pure that it was directly used for drinking.
Today, due to the sewage of the city in it, the amount of metal increases and the oxygen level in the water decreases. It was declared a Ramsar site in 2003 by including small and big pond because there is a large gathering of different species of birds here. Bhoj was declared a wetland in 1988 and 'Sarovar Hamare Dharohar' scheme was started, but this scheme did not have much effect on the health of Bade Talab. The condition of the small pond is very bad. Timely conservation of Bhopal's water sources is essential.
The characters of environmental stories published in Vasudha magazine were felicitated as environmental warriors in the programme.
