The professor, Kedar Mandal, is an assistant professor of Hindi at Dyal Singh College in New Delhi. The professor updated his Facebook status and wrote obscene comments regarding Goddess Durga on Friday and later deleted it. This attracted ire across the country and several complaints have been made by different organizations across the country.

Mandal later removed the post but could not save himself from the ire of devotees who were hurt deeply and the anguished devotees poured their feelings against him.

SHO of Ashoka Garden police VS Chouhan said that a complaint was submitted by the activists of Hindu Yuva Vahini regarding the incident. The activists were demanding registration of FIR but as the post was uploaded from Delhi, FIR would be registered there only, Chouhan added.

He said if Mandal is not arrested and FIR not registered against him, the organization would stage country-wide protest.
