After fierce protest, a case of murder was registered against a Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) leader, after a 36-year-old man, whom he had beaten, died on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, chaotic scenes were witnessed at Ashoka Garden police station where huge crowd had gathered protesting the death and demanding justice for the victim who died after being assaulted by the BJYM leader on Tuesday evening in Ashoka Garden area.

The deceased has been identified as Sanjay Jain. Family and locals who were protesting the death of Jain kept the body outside the Ashoka Garden police station and demanded that a case of murder be registered against the accused. The protestors also halted traffic for around 2 hours and were pacified only after the police registered a case against Deependra Shrivastava.

Notably, BJYM’s Ashoka Garden wing president Shrivastava had assaulted Rahul Jain, cousin of Sanjay and Sanjay had visited Deependra on Tuesday for talking over the issue.

There, Sanjay was also beaten up, following which he died after some time.Officials of district administration assured that the deceased’s wife would be provided with job but it was not clear whether the administration would facilitate a Government job or in a private company.

Shrivastava is considered close to the local BJP legislator and thus the police were not willing to register a case against him. Rahul Jain, who accompanied Sanjay Jain to Shrivastava’s residence, alleged that instead of expressing regret, Shrivastava and his supporters assaulted them again.

The victims reached Ashoka Garden police station were the police refused to lodge a complaint and insisted for medical examination but before Sanjay could be taken to hospital he collapsed and was rushed to a hospital where he died late in the evening. Police claimed that Sanjay died of cardiac arrest.

After the death of the victim family members claimed that Deependra Shrivastava and his supporters have thrashed Sanjay badly which proved fatal but the police were trying to protect and refused to lodge a complaint.
