Misrod police have nabbed a 25-year-old youth and recovered 4 kg of Cannabis from his possession on Sunday. The accused was nabbed by police personnel during vehicle checking in Misrod area.
According to the police, during the vehicle checking rider of motorbike bearing registration number MP04-QB-7817 tried to evade and escape the vehicle checking but was chased down by the police.
In the initial investigation the nabbed accused was identified as Kagendra Kuchbandiya of Itwara area and in the initial investigation police found that the accused has been booked for different crimes at different police stations in the past. Police recovered 3.8 kg of Cannabis from his possession worth Rs15000. The nabbed accused told the police that he had bought the drugs from 2-3 different persons and have provided the details to the police. Police have not revealed the details of the person as it would alert the wanted accused. Based on the details the suppliers who have provided the drugs would be searched and nabbed.
The police have registered a case under section 8 and 20 of the NDPS Act and have started further investigation. During the investigation accused confessed that he used motorbike for selling and purchasing drugs.
The motorbike recovered from the accused was stolen and if stolen motorbikes were used by the accused would be investigated. On Monday the accused was produced in the court and was sent under judicial custody. Police said that with the arrest of the suppliers the network of drug peddlers would be unearthed.
