In a bizarre incident, an 18-year-old youth prepared a video clip of his committing suicide by hanging. The incident took place in his Durgesh Vihar Colony under Piplani police station area early on Monday morning.
Before mounting to the stool to tighten the noose in his neck, the victim Sanjog Maheshwari set mobile phone on video recording mode and then hanged himself from the ceiling.
The victim was a first year student of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). Victim’s father first noticed that the victim did not open the door of his room despite calling him several times and thus he broke open the door and found him hanging. The victim was immediately brought down from the noose and rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.
The victim also left a suicide note in which he claimed that he was taking the extreme step, as he was not able to deliver better results and was embarrassed on his poor performance in studies. Police said the victim was pursuing BBA from NRI College. Family members told police that the victim used to remain depressed over his failures in studies. Victim’s father owns a grocery shop. The police are yet to record statements of the family.
After the post-mortem, the body has been handed over to victim’s family members. The police have registered a case under section 174 of the CrPC and have started further investigation. Meanwhile, a man in the age group of 25 years was found dead near Chetak Bridge under Govindpura police station area on Monday. The police are yet to establish the identity of the victim.
