A youth discussion was held on Swami Vivekananda Library on Wednesday on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. In this youth discussion, the participants first discussed their autobiography "The Stories of My Experiments with Truth" while discussing books written by Mahatma Gandhi and other books written by Mahatma Gandhi.
Swami Vivekananda Library, Manager Yatish Bhatele said that "Mohandas - A True Story of a Man, His People and an Empire" written by Rajmohan Gandhi was also discussed. After this, the participants discussed their policies like Gandhiji's Dandi March, Satyagraha and non-violence.
In this, Ashutosh Malviya mentioned Gandhi's Khadi movement while describing the stories related to Gandhi. He also said that Gandhi is still a source of inspiration for the youth.
The khadi movement by Gandhi aimed at boycotting foreign cloth.
Mahatma Gandhi began promoting the spinning of khadi for rural self-employment and self-reliance instead of using cloth manufactured industrially in Britain in the 1920s in India, thus making khadi an integral part and an icon of the Swadeshi movement.
Abhilash Thakur read extracts from Gandhi's book. He recalled Gandhi's contribution in tying the country into a formula and starting a movement. It is to be noted that as many as 18 to 20 youngsters participated in the discussion and expressed their views.
