Youth Congress protest against price rise

The Youth Congress celebrated Raksha Bandhan in a unique way by protesting against the spiraling prices of essential commodities on Saturday.

Notably, the prices of onions and pulses have witnessed steep rise in recent past and thus they have become unapproachable for the common people. While protesting against the increasing prices, the Congress leaders distributed these commodities to the citizens.

The members of Youth Congress celebrated Raksha Bandhan at Prabhat Petrol Pump Square. They asked the girls to tie rakhi on their wrists and in return they presented them packets of onions and pulses.

While talking about the Raksha Bandhan celebration, president of Youth Congress (Bhopal) Manoj Shukla informed that this festival was observed with an aim to protect the sisters and the problems they face in kitchen. He further said that youth congress is concerned about the price hikes of food items and to protest against the increased rates of onions and pulses youth congress took a step further.

He also said that the females are worried with this price hike and to calm down them youth congress distributed packets of pulses and onions to them as a gift of raksha bandhan. Manoj allegedly said, “Earlier when there was any such hike in the prices, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) used to get fussy about it. But, these days the party has kept a long silence.”

Manoj adding to this said, “Now this is time for even BJP workers to come down on the streets and raise their voice against this price hike.”

Manoj further said, “In the price of onions and pulses even dry fruits are available in the market. To solve this issue either the prices should be brought down or people should buy these pulses and onions as if they are buying dry fruits.”

On the occasion, Tariq Ali, Manoj Thakur, Raghavendra Singh, Salim Qureshi, Vikky Khangil, Gagan Ghanget, Arpit Sharma and other Youth Congress members were present.
