In an ugly turn of events, a youth during the course of the weekly public hearing at Indore collectorate, tried to commit suicide by consuming some poisonous substance. Apparently taken aback by the incident, district collector P Narhari who was present at the hearing, rushed him to MY Hospital, where his condition was stated to be critical till filing this report.
The victim identified as Jitendra, a native of Sanwer was reportedly frustrated over prolong delay in hearing of a complaint by him in the collectorate in connection with his objection over a land transfer case. On Tuesday afternoon while public hearing (jan sunwai) was underway at the collectorate, Jitendra carrying a paper in his hand, approached the district collector P Narhari and handed it over to him. While the collector was looking into his paper, he took out a bottle containing some poisonous liquid and consumed it before the collector.
Soon after the incident, a foam like substance started coming out of his mouth. This panicked the collector and other senior district officials present there. He was taken out of the public hearing venue by some district officials rushed to MY hospital in an official car of an upper collector. However, his condition was stated to be critical till filing this report.
According to report, some time back, Jitendra's father had sold his ancestral land to someone. This had apparently irked Jitendra and he raised an objection over the transfer of land, as according to him, his father had no right to sell this land without his concurrence, given the fact he had equal claim on this land.
He had lodged a complaint in the collectorate raising his objection over the transfer of land. He was apparently frustrated over delay in action on his complaint by the authorities concerned and this prompted him to commit suicide.
