A 24-year old youth was attacked by his younger brother with a sharp-edged weapon at Manjhi Nagar under Bairagarh police station area on Tuesday.
According to the police the victim Phool Singh lodhi was attacked by his younger brother Karan Singh with a sharp edged weapon after a heated exchange.
The victim is undergoing treatment at Civil hospital Bairagarh and is reportedly stable. The victim was attacked near his house.
Investigating Officer SI Kripashankar Singh said that the two had a fight over the share of the property. The victim is a habitual drinker and used to fight with his father for providing his share in the property as his father has spent part of the property to bear the expenses of marriage of his three daughters.
On Tuesday when the victim abused the father Bhanwar Singh lodhi while demanding for the share Karan got infuriated and attacked Phool Singh with a sharp edged weapon in chest on left side. The financial condition of the family is not good enough to meet the ends and after the marriages of the girls Bhanwar Singh was not left with money and the victim used to demand his share in the property that raised frequent fights in the family, he added.
The accused was arrested by the police. The accused attacked with the intention to kill the victim but the victim escaped with injuries and is undergoing treatment. The police have registered a case under section 307 of the IPC and have started further investigation.
