Freedom of speech is one right that each individual should use without any fear. With this message the youngsters of Bhopal presented a small play on ‘Freedom of Speech’.
The street play was presented at lake View and captured attention of the audience. The street play was presented by the Insane Drama Club of Rajiv Gandhi Prodyokigi Vishwavidyalay (RGPV). Directed and conceptualized by student Ajay Pandey, the entire street play focused on the freedom of speech.
The street was an interesting one as the entire story revolved around a single issue. The issue which was raised by the students was the recent activities of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. As many as 11 students were a part of the street play and with much confidence presented the play before the Bhopalites.
While talking about the street play, Ajay Pandey told The Pioneer, “We have intentionally raised the JNU issue while presenting our street play as we wanted to tell people that one should use the right Freedom of Speech without any fear.”
Interestingly, the street play gathered a huge crowd on the venue as people was seen interested to know what’s going on. Some of the audience also reacted negatively and gave a feedback that such issues should not be raised, while some appreciated the kind of play presented.
He further said, “We as young students and as the artists of a youth drama club enjoyed a lot while presenting the play. The mixed reactions from the people were something encouraging for all of us.”
